WAFFLES!!!!

While trying to meet and maintain the Army's weight standards many soldiers adapt low-carb diets.  This usually means that they have to sacrifice many delicious foods as a result.

I found a solution to the pancake craving woes.  This is a great, protein stacked, meal for when you finish morning PT. The best part of this is that it only contains 1g of carbs!

Here's what you need:

1. PROTEIN!!!
I personally prefer Phormula-1 by 1st Phorm.  For these
waffles, I prefer the Loop D Fruit flavor (which really tastes exactly like Froot Loops).

 2. Egg Whites

For convenience, I prefer to buy liquid egg whites

3. Baking Powder:

4. Waffle Maker

Nutritional Facts:

Macros:
121 kcals
Protein: 28g
Carbohydrates: 1g
Fat: 0g

This portion size will make 1-3 waffles depending on how thick you prefer your waffles.  Obviously, if you increase the ingredient proportions, be sure to account for this in the macro nutrient count.

What do you think?  I suggest trying this same recipe with other brands and flavors of protein!  Please let me know what you try and I will give it a shot.  Also, what healthy toppings would you suggest?

    1. Hi Matt!

Your low-carb protein waffle recipe looks and sounds really tasty! I would love to get my hands on that protein powder, because I miss froot loops and have not eaten them since I was a kid. That would sure bring back good memories from my childhood without destroying me diet with a sugar overload. Would you suggest adding fruit to it for additional sweetness, and to increase the fiber and micronutrient content of your waffle recipe? Thanks for sharing such an awesome, protein-packed, and macro-friendly recipe.

  2. I never would have thought of such a waffle. I am so used to the regular store-bought waffle mix. I am a big fan of fruit loops so a waffle that taste like them must be great. Since this recipe is offers one gram of carbohydrate it is good for the type of athlete that you picked. I love how easy it is to make as well.

  3. This is an awesome solution to the problem with having to keep your weight at a certain point. Im a very big fan of the simplicity of the low carb diet in that you just stop eating them as much as possible, and that usually helps with weight loss because it stops people from eating junk. This is a great fix for peoples sweet tooth when they have this low carb diet.

  4. Just from the name of this waffle, you've got me hooked! I always love adding to a healthy recipe book and I must add this to mine! Additionally, I really don't like waffles or pancakes unless they are made from scratch or close to it! This sounds delicious, nutritious, and just overall a good start to one's day!
